Purpose of SWE:

·        To inform young women, their parents, counselors, and the general public of the

         qualification and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them;

·        To serve as a center of information on women in engineering;

·        To encourage women engineers to attain high levels of education and professional

         achievement.

       Students, whether renewing their membership or applying as prospective new members, shall complete the Student Membership Form and submit it with their dues as soon after the start of the school year as possible.

       Voting members, who are Student Members in good standing of the Society of Women Engineers.  Anyone who is pursuing an undergraduate course of study in engineering or a field related to engineering at The University of Alabama and who is carrying at least half of the course load required of a full-time student is eligible for the grade of Student Member.  (Ref: Society Bylaws, Article III, Section 1G.)
