DR 133 – 2D AutoCAD for Engineers (2 Credit Hours)

Course Description: Use of AutoCAD software to produce two-dimensional engineering drawings such as multiviews, sections, and auxiliaries as well as isometric and oblique pictorials and dimensioned drawings.

Pre-Requisite Skills: Students entering this course are expected to have mastered the following skills:

• GES 131, ME 110, or a college-level engineering graphics course without computer-aided drafting

Prerequisite Topics: Visualization and basic technical sketching

Co-Requisite Skills: Students taking this course are expected to be enrolled (or to have taken) courses that teach students the following skills:

• None

Course Objectives: Students who successfully complete this course can be expected to:

• Use basic engineering graphics skills as the basis for Computer-Aided Drawings (CAD)
• visualization
• orthographic projection (multiviews, sections, auxiliaries)
• axonometric projection (isometric pictorials)
• oblique projection (oblique pictorials)
• dimensioning
• Execute engineering drawings with AutoCAD software
