Research Fields

The Center for Advanced Vehicle Technologies (CAVT) at The University of Alabama is conducting advanced vehicle research and is educating the next generation of young engineers and scientists for careers in the automotive/vehicle industry.  The state of Alabama and surrounding regions continue to enjoy the rapid expansion of an automotive industry base, and the CAVT is providing support for this growth.  Research to develop new transportation and vehicle systems is critical to meeting the transportation needs of today and tomorrow.  The CAVT is focusing on a new generation of vehicles that employs a number of technologically sophisticated systems such as: advanced propulsion power plants, including electric, alternative fuels, hybrid-power and fuel cells; ultra-low emission systems; light weight and smart materials; intelligent systems for controls; and low noise and acoustically designed systems.  The research programs of the Center represent a campus-wide interdisciplinary effort.

The "Sub Links" to this page will guide you through the details of various research fields, their personnel and all the students involved in the research.
